We spent the past weekend exploring Singapore, going to places we haven't really seen before (or haven't had to time for a proper look)
The first place we went to after getting into the city from the airport was Haw Par Villa
It's kind of like a themed park of sorts.
Haw Par Villa (Chinese: 虎豹別墅; pinyin: Hǔ Bào Biéshù) is a theme park located along Pasir Panjang Road, Singapore. The park contains over 1,000 statues and 150 giant dioramas depicting scenes from Chinese mythology, folklore, legends, history, and illustrations of various aspects of Confucianism. (From Wikipedia)
It was extremely weird in some parts but very interesting & beautiful in others.
My favourite was the huge pagoda and surrounding lake which was full of turtles including cute baby turtles.
After spending an hour or so there, we headed into Clarke Quay which is a lovely part of the city and also where our hotel was located.
Having had lunch, we then boarded a river cruise and spent the next hour have a lovely and relaxing tour of the river and marina bay - which is now a reservoir for fresh drinking water...
As it was very hot and humid, I felt like I was continually drinking water, so much that by the time we walked back to our hotel I couldn't wait to try something a little different. (The photos of my Singapore Sling will follow when I can upload them)
This was our five time to Singapore and find every time we go that we never have enough time to do everything that we would like to.
